HOW WE GIVE BACK . . .
In Business Student Council, we enjoy giving back to Texas A&M University, Mays Business School, and the Bryan-College Station community. Project Mays is the committee behind planning these events. Read below to see what we do!
Bike Raffles
Multiple times a year, BSC donates bikes to high-achieving elementary school students. Following the raffle, BSC members spend time reading and playing with the students. This allows us to build stronger bonds with Bryan ISD, encourage attendance and hard work in the classroom, and influence a student’s path by playing the role of a consistent, positive role model.
Case Competition
The Bryan ISD High School Case Competition was created to encourage and develop creativity, problem solving, and entrepreneurship drive within the classroom. Each student team is paired with a group of BSC members who throughout the course of three weeks, mentor them on business acumen, visual graphics, and presentation skills. The student teams then present their projects in a science-fair style competition to both BSC students and Mays faculty for technology inspired prizes they can use to further their education.
Ring Scholarship
The BSC Ring Scholarship is given to two well deserving Mays Business School students each year. Students have the opportunity to submit a written application and undergo an interview process where the applicants are graded based on financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. It is an awesome way for us to continuously support the Mays student body!
Angel Tree
Angel Tree is held annually during the month of November. BSC mentor/mentee families are given 2-3 students, teachers, or custodians to shop for, wrap the gifts of, and then deliver them at a Christmas party! It is one of our most heartfelt traditions and an awesome opportunity to connect with students, help buy much-needed items for the teachers, and show our appreciation for the behind-the-scenes custodians, all while spreading the holiday spirit leading into winter break.
